It's easy to say "we don't negotiate", but a lot more difficult to do when it's your people on the line (or even family). I do agree that we should not negotiate for hostages. The recent deal with Iran made no sense to me. They were Americans, but they went voluntarily. They assumed the risk, so it's on them. We shouldn't have unfrozen any assets anywhere. Doing so makes us look weak-kneed, and invites more hostage-taking.

I would be shocked if Israel negotiates now. Too many people have died. If they do, they invite more of it. Harsh for the families of the abducted.
