I am still trying to make sure the SI Pro picks are accurate after the recent changes they have made to Industry names. I went back starting in January of this year and looked at eight different sets of picks for Tech_Growers. The picks were spaced about a month apart and all were prior to the recent SI Pro changes. For each ticker in each of the eight sets of picks, I checked with last Friday's SI Pro dataset to see how they are currently classified as to Industry. (The data is included below.)

I found the following set of what appear to be "outliers" included in those picks. These would not be included in the future with the way my radiscript is currently set:

Thanks Larry! Great compilation. Maybe the salient weeding out occurs with needing to be growing revenue >30%. In which case I'd be in favor of adding all the categories you identified here, and then between the size requirement and sales growth we'd end up with a good "tech" list. As a final quality check, a prospective user of the info could do a brief check of what the company does before they purchase it. I'd certainly be willing to do that. Alternatively, a new screen could be created that included the extra industries. Tech_Growers_Plus

I personally would prefer the addition of a Tech_Growers_Plus screen. It would be pretty easy to do. I could just add another "Keep"line with the additional filtering. Does any one else have any ideas on this?

IMO, it's a choice between "Tech with High Growth" and "High Growth". For the same reason that AMZN is now classified as Internet Retail, not Software, MELI is classified Broadline Retail. TechGrowers was mostly modeled after Saul circa 2018/19, which was mostly "software" but even then had SHOP, things like TTD, ended up with UPST etc. And now the SaaS market has matured along with the end of Covid's impacts, and hi sales growth by itself is going to get tougher in a maturing market - so an industry-specific screen requiring over 30% growth is probably going to come up with diminishing # of candidates.

The tickers you mention are no longer on the Tech_Growers screen because of the identified Industry issue. We are trying to come up with a solution to keep those kinds of companies on the screen. The problem with keeping the name Tech_Growers, but adding in the other industries, is that it's possible for non-tech companies to (now) show up on the list. The screen user thinks they is getting Tech, but unless they check the company specifics, they may not be. By adding a Tech-Growers_Plus screen, it alerts the potential user to check, a caveat emptor type of thing.

I hear what you're staying. However, non-tech companies were already showing up in the "classic" Tech Growers screen. For example, the TG list from back in June included GCT, TOST, and MELI.

These would now be excluded if we used the new industry classification. So if we go back to including these "non-tech" companies, we would be more in keeping with the picks from the classic Tech Growers screen. That's why we don't need a Tech Growers Plus screen if the intent is to continue to have picks similar to the classic screen.

That being said, it's because of lohill's generosity of time and effort, that we get to see these screen listings. So I will defer to whatever decision he makes.

Here are the picks for a new sample screen called "Growers" where there is no screening for Industry. Below that are the industries for each pick. This is just a test for your perusal.

Interesting, WLFC. That one has been on several of the SiPro screens I use.
It has gone from $60 or so up to $200 recently, very smoothly and steadily.
That seems like unusual behavior, so I looked up what they do, and they lease and service aircraft and aircraft engines.
Does not sound consistent with "Trading Companies and Distributors" but who am I to say.
The other one on the list in that industry group, FTAI, has also done very well, doubling in the last six months.
Must be a good time to be in the leasing business.

Here are the picks for a new sample screen called "Growers" where there is no screening for Industry.

I'm not sure we want *no* industry screening. What I was imagining was keep the original industry categories, but then add a couple additional so that tickers like MELI TOST GCT show up again. Maybe this latest "no industry screening" is better named Rev_Growers. (I'd be in favor of adding it!)

But Tech_Growers_Plus would be the original screen plus a couple of new industry add-ons per lohill's previous Radiscript in this thread.

High annual sales growth has been shown to underperform if used alone. Low sales growth also underperforms. Moderate 12m sales growth is best when 12m sales growth is used as a single factor.

The original screen was IT Services, Software, and Online Services. Maybe use the count of passing companies to find something similar. Just using 451020 IT Services and 451030 Software seems closest to the original screen's intent.

Without commenting for or against these changes/additions, I do note that lohill already is doing a potful of work on producing the screen listings, and doing so for free. These additions would be even more work.
