Anyway, it turns out that the man, Jhoan Boada, is innocent, was not involved in the attack, and all charges have been dropped.

Boada, 22, became the face of right-wing backlash after he was photographed flashing twin birds at reporters and insisting he was innocent as he left his arraignment in late January.

A “thorough and diligent investigation” cleared Boada in the case, the DA’s office said in a statement. “Jhoan Boada has been exonerated as a participant in this assault,” the statement said.

Ah, exonerated, now there's a word the Trump Cult loves.

But probably not in this case.

It's unlikely you'd even know it exists except for Trump claiming in a State of the Union that MS-13 had “infiltrated our schools” and later claiming that authorities had removed “50 percent” of MS-13 members in the United States, and repeatedly falsely claiming at his campaign rallies to have "sent thousands and thousands of MS-13 horrible people out of this country or into our prisons."
