DonOLD J. Trump is mad. He said this afternoon that "Google has illegally used a system of only revealing and displaying bad stories about Donald J. Trump" while only "revealing good stories about Comrade Kamala Harris."

Umm, gotta' ask: are there any good stories about Trump? He's a rapist, a felon, he's still facing multiple indictments, has stolen top secret intelligence documents, called the nation's heroes "suckers" and "losers," turned Arlington Memorial Cemetery into a cheap photo-op, grinning and flashing a thumbs-up while literally standing on graves there, chickened out of a second presidential debate after getting his ass kicked in the first debate, and is selling gold sneakers, NFTs, fake leather Bibles, and $100,000 watches like a huckster in Times Square.

He's getting what he deserves.

Republicans can't get enough of helping Woke Companies with trade deals, anti union rules, all sorts of stuff.

So, they are NOT part of Big Tech. Democrats - are.

LOL imagine the guns taken away one day :)

No. At least I can't think of any; maybe someone from inside the cult could provide something.

bighairymike: Abraham Accords.

The Abraham Accords did not achieve peace in the Middle East or help resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. But normalized relations between Israel and a number of Arab countries, including Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Morocco was a solid first step.

bighairymike: Low inflation.

At the cost of millions of job losses and small business closings. And perhaps you noticed that coming out of the pandemic the United States has had the lowest rate of inflation of any of the G-7 countries. Currently, inflation is 2.7%.

bighairymike: Massive increase in manufacturing jobs.

Trump lost 178,000 manufacturing jobs while the country has added 789,000 manufacturing jobs since Biden took office.

Trump was up over 414,000 in Feb 2020, just before Covid hit. Covid shut down the economy, a big loss in March (I couldn't find the number) followed by 1,300,000 manufacturing jobs lost in March 2020. Some of the recovery was under Trump, but the bulk of the recovery to pre-covid levels occurred under Biden.

Technically you are correct but many stats can be adjusted by the time frame selected to say whatever you want.

That aside, I thought of two more "Trump good things" in answer to ges' challenge.

Low energy prices.

Brought Iran to its economic knees.

(This very much ties into inflation.) Energy prices skyrocketed after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. If you're going to excuse Trump for Covid, you need to excuse Biden for the Russian invasion, yes? Or if not, which of the two is more Russia-friendly? Who did Russia support in their meddling in the 2016 election?

Many sources, but here's one:

https://www.nature.com/articles/s41599-023-02526-9....

An objective analysis of the effects of the Russia–Ukraine war on the crude oil market can assist relevant entities in developing both short-term emergency strategies and long-term response plans...The results of the multiresolution causality testing reveal a significant one-way causality between the Russia–Ukraine war and crude oil prices. Afterward, using the event analysis based on variational mode decomposition (VMD), from October 1, 2021, to August 25, 2022, as the event window, we found that the war and its chain events caused the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil prices to increase by $37.14, a 52.33% surge, and the Brent crude oil price to rise by $41.49, a 56.33% increase. During the event window, the Russia–Ukraine war can account for 70.72% and 73.62% of the fluctuation in WTI and Brent crude oil prices, respectively. Furthermore, the war amplified oil price volatility and fundamentally altered the trend of crude oil prices.

bighairymike: Trump was up over 414,000 in Feb 2020, just before Covid hit.

That's like saying the Cubs were up 3–0 in the eighth inning and holding a three-games-to-two lead in the best-of-seven series and would have gone on to the World Series if not for Steve Bartman.

Sh1t happens. Those jobs went away and there was no guarantee they were ever coming back.

Studies of past economic disruptions have shown that manufacturing jobs usually do not come back. The U.S. economy has had 13 recessions in the past 80-plus years. Forty-five months after nine of those recessions began, manufacturing employment remained below initial levels. Of the four recessions that produced net manufacturing job gains after 45 months, Biden’s presidency ranks as the second-largest percentage gain, exceeded only by the recession that started in 1948.

In short, when manufacturing jobs go away, there's never a guarantee they will ever return.

bighairymike: Low energy prices.

Yeah, I remember when oil futures went negative because no one was driving their cars because 20 million people were unemployed and tens of millions more were working from home for months.

bighairymike: Brought Iran to its economic knees.

Yeah, not really. First, at the end of Ahmadinejad’s term international sanctions were already bringing the Iranian economy to its knees. Rouhani, his successor, won the 2013 race promising to de-escalate tensions with the West, standing in sharp contrast Ahmadinejad, who favored shifting Iran toward China.

So what did Trump accomplish with even stricter sanctions?

That's right, he drove Iran into China's arms with a 25-year agreement between Iran and China approved by the Iranian cabinet.

As Will Farrell (as W) would say: strategery.
