That's not me saying that. That's from none other than Maureen Dowd (who is now getting the business from the muh democracy crowd for stating the truth).

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/17/opinion/electio...

Biden went from looking “forward to getting back on the campaign trail” to gone in one weekend, with the handprints of Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries on the president’s back.

The truth always wriggles out, and sometimes in surprising places:

Party leaders whitewashed the coup by ornately extolling Biden. Which was part of the deal. Drop out, and the adulation will last a lifetime.

Joe Biden isn't getting to speak on the last night of the convention, also a massive slight. This week should be lit.

On Wednesday, Ron Klain, Biden’s longtime adviser, expressed to Anderson Cooper Bidenworld’s feelings about the Jacquerie heard round the world.
“I think it was unfortunate because I think that the president had won the nomination fair and square,” Klain said. “Fourteen million people had voted for him and the vice president as vice president.” He added: “I do think, you know, the president was pushed by public calls from elected officials for him to drop out, from donors calling for him to drop out. And I think that was wrong.”

Joe Biden isn't getting to speak on the last night of the convention, also a massive slight.

In 2008, George Bush spoke on the first night of the Republican Convention, not the last night.

In 2000, Bill Clinton spoke on the first night of the Democratic Convention, not the last night.

In 1998, Ronald Reagan spoke on the first night of the Republican Convention, not the last night.

Retiring Presidents don’t get to upstage the new candidate, not now, not ever. I’m just gonna guess that you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. Either that, or you have no idea what you’re talking about. Take your pick.

Dope1: That's not me saying that. That's from none other than Maureen Dowd (who is now getting the business from the muh democracy crowd for stating the truth).

Right.

Here's the same Maureen Down less than one month ago, writing in an op-ed titled "Lord Almighty, Joe, Let It Go!" that president Biden must step aside:

It makes me sad that Biden doesn’t see what’s inescapable: If he doesn’t walk away gracefully right now, he will likely go down as a pariah and ruin his legacy.

The race for the Oval today is between two delusional, selfish, stubborn old guys, and that’s a depressing state of affairs.

Dowd has always been one of the reasons to cancel your NYT subscription, not a reason to renew it.

BTW, former presidents never speak on the last night of a convention -- that would be called 'stepping on the moment'.

I’ve never been able to rule out a third option - deliberate lying.

When you say it is a 'massive slight' you are just making shit up. Nothing of the kind. But it must be one of the 'talking points' you are getting from your right wing media.

Do you ever have an original thought?

Were any of those guys thrown off the ticket by their own party?

Nope! Not a one.

Maureen Dowd? That whole piece reeks of being a "just so" story. That may be why you like it - it was written with you in mind.

Maureen's article seems to have triggered a few.
More details are leaking out: Pelosi allegedly told Biden she'd start blasting him publicly if he didn't go and also allegedly threatened to release the poll numbers she had:

https://nypost.com/2024/08/16/us-news/nancy-pelosi...

Pelosi reportedly threatened to publicly trash her longtime friend and political ally if he continued to ignore thunderous calls to drop out of the 2024 election over fears for his cognitive abilities, four sources close to the campaign told the outlet.

Pelosi threatened to go public with her belief that her fellow Democrat wouldn’t beat the Republican nominee, former President Donald Trump, in a rematch — and threatened to release humiliating polling data to back it up, the sources alleged.

Her book "The Art of Power" must be based on some of Robert Greene's work, and likely focuses on the Dark Arts.

NY Post? Looks like I have to wait some more. I prefer to wait until someone takes the time to dig up and verify the real story. Bernstein can do his human tape recorder thing if he wants to. And I think they (Pelosi) could speak to Biden and tell him how it is without threats, but making it clear. I don't consider bringing up the 25TH appropriately as a threat - just a fact it was being considered - as I'm sure it was. Dope seesm to like sensationalist garbage.

I don’t think it needs to be sensationalist. 🤣
