We've had GEICO auto insurance for over 20 years and I continue to be unimpressed with their customer service. We recently changed vehicles, and the process of dropping the old vehicles and adding a new ones has been a royal pain in the a$$. Long (15+ minute) wait times on their 1-800 number...they dropped me after the previous 10 minute wait. The recorded message urges you to download their app or login online to manage your account. The problem is you can't update/change a vehicle online or on the app.
The app/online options direct you back to the 1-800 number. There is a chat bot online which I find completely useless. It asked me if I need to talk with an agent. I replied "yes". Here is the chat bot response I received:
"OK. No chat agents are available at this time. You can try chatting later or giving us a call.

OK, so back to the 1-800 number and waiting for an agent to help.
I'm calling Progressive today for a quote. This is ridiculous.
P.S. What has Todd been doing all this time?

There is something to be said for an independent insurance agent who has many insurance companies at hand.
Especially if they do a decent job at picking GOOD companies. Which is a potential problem, of course.
We have used the same agency for 20 years, two different agents because the first one retired. I get a call every 2-3 years to see if I want to get quotes from different companies. So far we've switched 3 times.
I also get a call if my company has increased my rate a lot. Got a call last year, she said every company jacked up the premium. A bad hailstorm and another bad windstorm will have that effect. ;-(
Whenever we needed to change/add/drop a car I just call our agent and she takes care of everything.
In the past I have used direct companies, GEICO, Allstate, State Farm. Had a devil of a time with Allstate getting ahold of them.

I use the Geico app, and I’m able to add and drop vehicles with ease. Maybe try that.
