Turning this back to the serious part of the topic.
The question is, Is the military in good shape right now?
The answer is a clear NO. The Navy in particular is in a shambles. Oh, sure, the warfighting systems designed 30 years ago are doing magnificently...but that doesn't mean anything if you can't get gas and rockets out to the
Arleigh Burkes (One of America's coolest Admirals ever, btw) at sea. Or it you keep closing down the refueling stations that you do actually have for environmental reasons.
Or stuff like this
https://www.military.com/daily-news/2024/09/24/us-...The Navy oiler Big Horn sustained damage while operating off the coast of Oman on Monday, with reports that the Military Sealift Command vessel suffered flooding and damage to its rudder post.Hegseth has his work cut out for him. The Air Force, once it gets rid of the #woke morons who think they don't need white fighter pilots seems to be in decent shape equipment and mission-wise with the Andruil and General Atomics Loyal Wingman drones plus the fact that they had NGAD in the air some years ago.
The Marines need heavier equipment than they have. Giving up their tanks without at least some kind of firepower augmentation elsewhere seems like a bad idea:
https://www.marinecorpstimes.com/news/your-marine-...I would love for Hegseth to call the Air Force's bluff: You don't want A-10s? Fine. Close air support is now, with the exception of Army Aviation units, the purview of the United States Marine Corps. Give them the A-10s and a compliment of forward air controllers.
