The most famous (infamous? notorious) Reiner is now Nick Reiner.
Living in the shadow of his insanely narcissistic hyper successful father since birth.
With one quick stroke of the knife--well it sounds like there were more than one--Nick Reiner has surpassed his father in fame/infamy. (The wife being murdered just seems like collateral damage.)
Forever.
This is going to turn out to be the same psychotic motivation as with Hinckley and Mark David Chapman (Reagan and Lennon).
All that matters is fame, if you can't get fame, infamy will do.
Now, no one will be able to speak about Rob Reiner, think about Rob Reiner, watch any of his movies, not even talk about All in the Family without immediately calling out the name: "Nick Reiner."
