I asked AI what countries have a 'Department of War'...

No country currently has a government department explicitly named the "Department of War"; instead, nations use terms like "Department of Defense," "Ministry of Defense," or "Ministry of Armed Forces" to oversee their military. The United States, for example, formerly had a "Department of War" but changed it to the "Department of Defense" in 1947.

Guess AI hasn't caught up with current events.

I suppose you could say Department of Defense is euphemistic. Even Russia has a 'Ministry of Defense'.

But still, seems like a stupid renaming.
