If we don't back down with regards to the South China Sea, we'll probably be in a shooting war in the next few years. Difficult to predict what the Felon would do. By treaty, we are supposed to come to the Philippines' defense, but who knows if the Felon would honor that. Maybe if they give us Mindanao in exchange?
I don't see any winning strategy in a shooting war in the Phillippine Sea. They're strategy is to shoot 60000 (an overwhelming amount) missiles at our ships, and we'll get very damaged/sunk. So our best strategy is to remain committed and plan for a shooting war, but we'll likely lose.
