No. I"m not justifying anything at all to you, simply giving you some history. The MEN I was talking to are college graduates, very successful in their lives and understand that the quotes are just a background. They actually know about the civil rights era in the US. In case you don't know the American Civil Rights Era is taught in various different places around the world. I've met people from New Zealand, Australia, Europe, Asia, and yes, the Philippines, who all saw Bull Connor hosing down blacks in their classrooms. I don't have to tell them anything about that, I do have to tell them it's still there and just below the surface, it hasn't gone away, but they know we've changed and moved forward - but it's still there, thus the dog whistles.
