This is how sick the GOP has become. How un-American.
Nazi Jokes and Vulgar Insults: The Edgy Gun Influencer Embraced by the G.O.P. Calling him "edgy"...isn't that cute.
Brandon Herrera, long an anti-establishment outsider, is trying to help the party defend a red-leaning House district in West Texas. It’s proving messy.
A self-described gun-rights absolutist and YouTuber known for his inflammatory humor, Mr. Herrera, 30, was initially opposed this year by both Mr. Johnson and President Trump as he challenged the district’s Republican incumbent, Tony Gonzales, for a second straight time. Mr. Gonzales and his allies spent millions painting Mr. Herrera as extreme, highlighting old videos in which he made wildly offensive jokes like saying that a Nazi-era submachine gun was “the original ghetto blaster” and “Hitler’s street sweeper.”Some highlights from this GOP/Trump endorsed candidate. And...hey Dope, please tell us again how the Democrats are the party of hate and divisiveness.
In a 2022 video, Herrera directed sexually crude and vulgar insults at Shannon Watts, founder of the gun-control group Moms Demand Action: "Being a mother doesn't make your opinion any more or less valid. Just because you let somebody creampie you doesn't mean I have to give a shit about your political opinions. The fact that you kept your cum trophy doesn’t make you any less wrong about the dumb shit that you say."
In a 2023 video, he made light of the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., shooting an MLK target dummy execution-style at close range before laughing.
In various videos, he played Third Reich military music in the background while featuring Nazi weapons, showed off a 1939 edition of Mein Kampf.
On his Unsubscribe podcast, Herrera joked about high suicide rates among military veterans, stating that he was "basically an honorary veteran" because he "often [thought] about putting a gun in [his] mouth".
Appearing in videos for the Sons of Confederate Veterans, he referred to the American Civil War as the "War of Northern Aggression" and promoted an annual "Yankee shoot" using antique rifles. And here's what that good Christian man, Mike Johnson has to say about all this:
Standing in a San Antonio barbecue joint, the speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, laid out a stark contrast between two congressional candidates in a sprawling West Texas border district. Voters could choose the “common sense” of the G.O.P. nominee, Brandon Herrera, he said, or the “crazy” positions of his Democratic opponent.Wow, could we have a more telling example of the deep rot at the heart of what once was the Republican Party?
Seems to me that the dumb things some Dem candidates have said are trivial compared to this vicious and hateful shit. And there's Mike Johnson trying to tell people to vote for this monster.
The Dems got rid of Graham Platner, but Mike Johnson, Trump and the Republican Party are 100% behind Herrera, because for them it is ALL and ONLY about power.
