The Republican National Committee is taking steps to formally declare Donald Trump the Republican Party’s 2024 presumptive nominee. By doing so, he would have access to the RNC’s data operation, benefit from fundraising with the RNC and have the support of all of the committee’s ground operations.

It would also mean the committee would be supporting Trump and effectively opposing former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley – an unprecedented break from the party’s past approach to the nominating process.

Current RNC rules require Trump to secure 1,215 delegates to officially become the party’s nominee. As of Thursday, Trump has 32 delegates while Haley has 17.

Huh. Sounds kind of like something you'd see in a dictatorship, right?

Evidently, the RNC wants to get a jump on that whole 'Dictator on Day One' thingy.
