The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

PS, I sold some BRK today, about 5% off its recent high, and some of a broad index of indexes that I have which is about 7-8% off its all-time high.

Now the plan is to re-invest in DFSV, my preferred vehicle for small cap value, after we've had a cluster of the major bottom indicator firings.

There's obviously some risk in this maneuver and I don't recommend anyone follow my lead. I don't have a very good track record, lol, missing the re-investment part of the Covid bear until the opportunity to profit had passed.

I am confident that we are seeing a very good buying opportunity in SCV, currently down 26% from its all-time high set in November, when it was just a bit over average valuation. It was already below average valuation before the recent bloodbath began. I expect a great buying opportunity to be forthcoming in the near future.
