I wonder if the CIA had a hand in the coup in Greece that installed a junta, in place of the likely winner of the next election, that was seen as "soft on Communism"? It was that junta that tried to wag the dog in Cyprus, that lead to the island being divided, in the 70s. The net sifter says the CIA did not play a role, officially, though the US was quick to embrace the junta.
