The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

The New York Times examined dozens of videos taken in recent weeks and identified multiple aggressive tactics that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and other federal agents used during immigration arrests and in encounters with protesters.

-- Officers forcibly entered homes without a judge’s warrant. ICE officials drafted guidance saying that their officers could enter homes without a judicial warrant. Hey, who needs a Fourth Amendment anyway?

-- They interrogated people because of their ethnicity or accents. Videos show immigration agents who told said they were asking for documentation because of individuals accents.

-- They broke windows and dragged occupants from their cars. Immigration agents are taking sharp measures to detain and arrest people, including many people who do not appear to be a danger to the community and in some cases people who are not the targets of immigration enforcement operations at all.

-- They used force on people who were already restrained. Several videos show ICE agents holding a man to the ground as one agent repeatedly strikes the man in the face with his knee; others, placing a knee on the person’s neck.

-- They met protesters with force. Videos showed multiple cases when agents were quick to use physical force with protesters, shoving or tackling them.

-- They deployed chemical irritants at close range. Videos also documented multiple occasions when, in confrontations with protesters, immigration agents deployed chemical irritants with little to no warning — firing directly in people’s faces.

-- They continued to operate with anonymity, armed to battle in Fallujah while encountering soccer moms in minivans . Yeah, well, they're fucking Nazi cowards.

There's nothing complicated or subtle or hard to understand about what is happening. The objective here is cruelty, humiliation, and harm.

One protester was detained, her bra removed and her wedding band cut off. Evidently, she did not have any gold filings to steal.
