So I bought a bunch of a TIPS index fund ...
Be aware that there can be a lot of subtle disadvantages buying a TIPS fund rather than actual TIPS, especially a TIPS ladder.
First, there are serious taxation differences.
Also, prices can be adverse consequences due to interim price movements that don't matter for a ladder, which can theoretically be permanent losses if the fund sees withdrawals.
And of course fees!
I'm not saying it's a bad move, but you might want to look into those things closely, even if your choices are limited.
