Since there is no health board, and this is science, I'm posting this here. NYT, so you may have to pay (it's worth it, IMHO).

Basically, mosquitoes cause more human deaths than any other animal. Because of climate change, their range is expanding (there has been Dengue in FL...normally that is a tropical disease). Malaria deaths are up for the first time in decades. New breeds of mosquitoes are surviving in urban environments better. Basically, they're winning.

DDT has some catastrophic side-effects, but it worked. I always go back and forth on that one. Could we have all but eliminated them, and then stopped using it before too much damage was done? I know damage was being done, which is why they banned it. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. :-(
