The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

No wonder there are calls for his impeachment. I just saw some video today. It won't go anywhere with Reps in charge. But illegal strikes is pretty good justification. Congress rescinded the authority for POTUS to strike at will (after 25 years!). So these actions are illegal, and probably impeachable. - 1pg

I know you hate Trump so you keep saying this because you need it to be illegal, but that is certainly debatable....

"The Afghanistan War was not formally declared by Congress; instead, it was initiated under the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) passed shortly after the September 11 attacks in 2001. This allowed the U.S. to engage in military action against those responsible for the attacks, primarily targeting al-Qaeda and the Taliban."

"The U.S. invasion of Panama in December 1989 was not officially declared as a war by Congress; instead, it was termed "Operation Just Cause." The U.S. government justified the invasion by citing the need to protect American citizens and restore democracy in Panama."

"The U.S. invasion of Grenada in 1983 was not officially declared as a war by Congress; instead, it was conducted under the code name "Operation Urgent Fury" and was justified by President Reagan as a necessary action to protect American citizens and counter perceived threats from the Soviet Union and Cuba. The invasion faced significant criticism for lacking formal congressional approval."

Also Korea and Vietnam and Iraq were likewise undeclared.
