As suggested here, the majority of his followers are not put off by his policies...
I saw a clip of Obama a few months ago saying words to the effect of "if I had done any of those things, can you imagine the reaction". It's not just the policies, but who is the policymaker. I think we'd be hearing a lot of complaints if Obama was overseeing the shooting of American citizens without cause by federal agents, seizing tankers, doing unauthorized military strikes, etc.
Not that maybe some tankers don't need to be seized, or things don't need to be blown up. But if Obama was doing this without Congress, the right would be screaming (and correctly so).
