Hegemonic bullshit. Zionism, like all ethnic nationalism, is a mythological claim about an essential identity (in this case, God given) with a natural right to a territory. It, like all ethnic nationalisms, is founded on a violent cultural and ethnic othering of excluded indigenous populations. Zionism is itself the historical response of European Jews to their othering in the face of emergent ethnic nationalisms across Europe.

In the current political context, the attempt to conflate anti Zionism with antisemitism is a hegemonic project of the Israeli state and its apologists from criticism over its genocidal nationalist project. Most importantly, it attempts to wall off the greater Israel project from criticism. Zionism is an ongoing project centered on establishing and expanding the territorial and citizenship claims of the Jewish state at the expense of the indigenous people of the lands Zionism claims and covets.

Zionism is having its Lebensraum moment in the political evolution of the Jewish state, and the attempt to wall off that ethnonationalist project from criticism by charging critics with antisemitism is a grotesque exercise in genocidal apologia.
