It's called Nobel Disease, or Nobelitis

It happens when someone has been successful at something in their life, perhaps received some awards, and are then ""...inflicted by excessive pride and self-confidence. There are times when the manifestations of such behaviours demonstrate noticeable signs of narcissism and on extreme cases, hubris.

Linus Pauling is a classic example. Elon Musk another.

Then there are the pure con artists like Trump who are born on 3rd base, but act like they always hit home runs when they cross the plate.
