How is this different than, say, stealing?I'll leave that determination to the experts. It's certainly no worse than using
https://archive.ph directly, but you could argue that that is also essentially stealing.
I do wonder why the NY Times, or some other site, hasn't sued the providers of archive.ph.
But they are only providing a facility for people with paid subscriptions to conveniently "archive" their paid-for articles "for personal use". They can't be held responsible for other people accessing that same content for free... is what I'm sure they would argue.
