There I said it. This "disastrous" debate performance was a one-off. And it's one that wasn't even mostly Biden's fault. It was the fault of the people who prepared him, and the new debate rules (which, yes, were the rules requested by Biden's team). As Gavin Newsome said, you don't give up on the Team's Captain because of one disastrous game loss.
That said, at the outset I have no idea why Biden didn't at least explain his hoarse voice at the outset, saying it was due to a cold (assuming that was the case). I also don't know what to make of the fact that Biden was apparently back in tip-top shape an hour after the debate at a rally. Did his cold medicine finally kick in?
