The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

A couple of people have complained about the METAR board on Shrewd'm.

Who is willing to step up as board monitor?

We all have the ability to control the content of our view of the board by using the frowny face button, without a board monitor approach and imposing our view of the world on others. I tend to use it when I find I am irritated by the high noise/low pertinent content from a poster. I find use of that button has made my experience here less frustrating. You can always go back and change your choice later, to see if the poster was just having a bad time of it, posting uncharacteristically at the time of the P-boxing. For some people, even negative attention is desired, and the best action is ignoring them. Of course you still have to deal with the pissed off replies to these people, but it at least helps, and the replies to actual content may clue you in to the fact that perhaps indeed they may occasionally have something to say.
