The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

LurkerMom: Kevin McCarthy Says Impeachment Inquiry of Joe Biden Being Prepared

Think so? Personally, I think that's Qevin just flapping his gums.

Think about it for a moment.

If republicans bring impeachment charges, democrats will get to call witnesses.

Lev Parnas, who has written that the charges against president Biden are false, will testify under oath that the charges against president Biden are false.

Lev's a bum, you say?

How about Rudy Giuliani and the repair shop owner? Rudy can tell Congress how he had been trying to get Hunter's laptop for years and had enlisted Russian assistance in the matter.

How about hearing former AG Bill Barr tell Congress why he declined to charge any of the Bidens? After all, McQuarthy will have to accuse Barr of his department of justice intentionally hampering the investigation of Hunter Biden. That should be sweet.

What about forensic experts, at least two of whom already told the New York Times the hard drive is a mess and additional folders were added to the drive after Giuliani obtained it?

Not to mention that there's suggestions of email evidence that the DOJ was worried that former president Trump violated Hunter Biden's Sixth Amendment rights with his tweets and with his administration repeatedly demanding charges be brought again the Bidens.

As Whistleblower X described it: "From what I was told by various people in my agency, my IRS supervisor, Matt Kutz, created memos which he put in the investigative files regarding the investigation potentially violating the subject's Sixth Amendment rights. He also referred to Donald Trump's tweets at the time.

I recall that at one point I had to go around my supervisor and ask his boss, ASAC George Murphy, to tell him to stop sending me and the Hunter Biden prosecution team these emails and that I was searching media articles on a weekly basis and was aware of everything being written in the media regarding the case.

So, no, unless McQuarthy believes he'll lose his speakership otherwise, I think he's just feeding meat to the base over on Fox and knows the republican party will be humiliated if there's an actual impeachment trial.
