I wouldn’t touch crypto currencies with a 10 foot pole so I don’t have a dog in this fight. Not even one attached to the end of a 10 foot pole. ;-)
I’m posting because the CFTC is considering new regulations for crypto. Since the CFTC is an executive agency, they can enforce regulations outside the authority of Congress.
The linked article is by the Chair of the CFTC. It’s complicated and I won’t try to cut and paste. If you can’t read it because it’s behind a paywall, get the issue online from your local public library or ask AI to summarize it for you.

I don’t know whether CFTC rules go into effect immediately or whether they require a period of open comment by the public. I also don’t know how they would interact with potentially conflicting state rules.
