Stopped at a Pilot truck stop yesterday and was more than pleased to see fresh paint on the gas islands and seeing the concrete between the islands being scrubbed with a powerful cleaning machine. The restrooms were clean and the racks of merchandise neat. This is not the way it was before we closed on our 80% controlling interest. It looked like someone hadn't spent a dollar on upkeep for a long time. The billion dollars we're spending to bring the stores back looks like it's being spent well.
Had a chuckle when I went to check out and saw four self check out machines. Pilot is putting them in and Dollar General is limiting their use and taking some out. Just progress I guess, as both chains will find the optimal solution.

I'm not surprised at all to see Oscar255414's, in his text above, being his usual wonderfully appreciative self. It is so easy to find problems everywhere today, that it is rather refreshing when people express where things are also going right.
Through life we all meet people who are optimistic and others who are pessimistic. It seems, from my many observations, that kindness - and not only kindness, but also long-term success - tends to gravitate towards the optimistic. We need more Oscar255414s today.
Thank you Oscar255414 for your support of Shrewd'm.
