Washington, of course, was not the only framer who viewed our Constitution largely as a bulwark against demagogues.

I might have missed a Washington quote above, in this or another thread, but here's one, from:

That last bit describes Trump to a "T": self-salvation via the sacrifice of democracy. 😟
