We've had an LG for 6 years or so. Quiet. Cleaned the filter once.

However, the door design is stupid. It's held by two springs and two strings over pulleys. The strings wear out about every two years, or the spring end breaks off. The door is heavy and when it breaks you hope your foot isn't in the way. $15 from Amazon gets new strings and springs. Didn't ought to be that way.
