You have to wonder what fool would really like to have to follow Trump 2.0 and have to try and clean up the gawdawful mess his leaving.
Amen. It's going to take sh*tloads and sh*tloads of people, spread over some decades, if it's going to be done at all. It's going to need to start with the grass roots demanding--and willing to try to provide--better quality society than we're getting now. Better ethics to start with. Better quality of dialogue. A "united we stand, divided we fall" attitude.
The damage is being done at deep levels, not just the leadership. How do you replace the "brain drain" of career rank and file members of so many departments who have left--either let go or quit due to lack of job security and poor morale? How do you rebuild trust in our institutions: the courts, the election process, the Fed, the FCC, the FBI, the universities, the medical establishment, science in general--all of that has been significantly undermined. How do we get it back, and how long does that take?
How do we repair our relations with our allies, if we have any left who trust us? How do we repair the environmental damage? All of that takes decades at best.
And who will have all the money? Not the grass roots. But that's where it will have to start. Deciding that we're better than all the #(&^% that's going on now.
It's not likely to be fully restored in my lifetime. But hopefully the ball gets rolling. There are a lot of great young people out there.
Other than that: have a great evening everyone!
