The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

CA growers should retaliate. If you live in a state that went for the Felon, you don't get any produce from CA.

Love the sentiment. Never gonna happen.

CA growers largely voted for Trump. The agricultural area in the central valley of California is very conservative. Remember, that is the home of former Speaker McCarthy and former Rep. Devin Nunez and his famous cow. Most of the other US Reps from that area are similarly inclined, if not quite as well known.

They are also the loudest whiners about water (and probably where Trump learned about the delta smelt). They don't want the water going to So Cal, they want it for their own somewhat wasteful watering practices because it would cost money to switch to more water-wise methods. (There's a joke in there about being wise, but I'm going to leave that alone for now.) They also complain a lot about taxes, while enjoying all the benefits those taxes provide. (All while they are the largest beneficiaries of Prop 13, which keeps their property taxes lower that much of the rest of the country.) Little things like sane government working for all of the people of the state and not just the rich.

Besides, you've got a decent Ag economy in AZ. You'll have plenty to eat at good prices. Only some items would get expensive. I know we can't send our citrus to you because CA has a parasite that you've kept out of AZ. Doesn't affect the food quality, but it does make the skin of citrus look bad.
