But Michael Burry and Steve Eisman both of the "Big Short" fame have been writing about the risks as well.

In this particular financial crookery, at least the asset-liability durations are somewhat matched.

The rub is regulatory arbitrage, private credit ratings, and confusion, where life insurers are regulated in 50+ states and add in Bermuda, Caymans etc for offshore life reinsurance.
