The 2022 plan was scaled-down from earlier proposals, and consists of a single concrete tunnel with a diameter of 36 feet, built 140 to 170 feet underground.

I am sure this was factored in by the engineers but with all the earthquakes and fault lines all up and down California, that a large brittle concrete tube would be getting cracked and broken almost all the the time.
