I used to love debating and discussing police in my teen years in the 90's. Heck even now - I can same perhaps 98 out of 100 Senators, and something pertinen about them from back in those days. Today - it's been years since I watched political news and I could probably name 25-30/100 senators. While politics was always a contact sport - you are RIGHT ON the internet made us all brave keyboard warriors and as luck would have it, much of this started during Bush v Gore 2000----so the new bloggers, chatters, all of us had this medium.
Also, technology made it easy for an already self segregating America, to really truly marry themselves to their own political silo, or ghetto if you will. Changing socioeconomic situations and fortunes - and lack of a common culture, belief, language, etc really turned the melting pot into a mosaic and it's not just racial. All these things turned America into tribes and castes -- only it's not official yet because we're only 250-ish years old. Give it time -- it will happen.
On TMF I used to predict all the time that political violence will be normal and daily in America. Assassination attempts between congressional campaigns. Citizen vs Citizen. It's happening now - and it's only a few steps from being normalized --- the mass shootings are taking that place first.
BigPicture wise- the texting, smartphones, social media, likes, have absolutely robbed people of some humanity. Eye contact, touch, reasoning, body language - is going. The video games I played as a kid - were about Mario saving the princess and whacking a few dragons. No "grand theft auto", no expert gun skills being taught. While rock and roll was always Risque - wagging our fingers, getting tattoos, bobbing our heads and saying "bitch" and using a certain urban accent to argue and then get violent over French fry orders wasn't normal - it is now - YouTube it. People are losing humanity.
Now get ready for the true fun. A.I. Which yes, will benefit many of the well educated and well heeled that populate mediums like this. But in parts of America NOT seen by the Bubble People here.... you think they are mad now? Wait till more jobs are lost. Wait till A.I becomes household...and robs people of even MORE humanity.
I'll say it again.
One day we'll all say "Man, them 2020's. Those were the good ol days".
