Despite being somewhat opposite on politics - I've respected and enjoyed his words for years.

Here Mr Maher talks about the Balkanization of America - something I used to warn against, was personally attacked for, and went on to embrace and hope for and in real life - promote, tangibly, off line.

He's got the right idea about political hatred. And that (my words) it's getting tribalistic. Literally.

He's missing that a lot of this is culture decay. Decay of previous traditions and societal norms.

Not in this video but in previous ones - he HAS gotten nuance right in that certain socioeconomic trends and policies have indeed forced some people to embrace demagogues and extremes, and wrong directed anger vessels.

But, these divisions are only going to get more embedded and permanent. As I used to say on TMF - things like daily political violence will one day be normalized in America. America will be easier to divide from the outside, and exploit.

funny part. One day, we'll look back at the 2020's being the good ol days.

Fair to say it's not 2 parties any longer. It's 4 tribes, possibly 6.
