Contra this board's genius opinion that they'd be passive players in an oil world where Iran could just perpetually hold them hostage, they're actually doing what rational players always do: find the next best alternative and make it work. As such they're all acting to reduce their dependence on the strait. It will take a while, but it will happen.

In 10 years...

Wow. There's no end to the delusion. Get a grip on reality. All the rational players have concluded that America is a paper tiger that cannot protect them or their economic interests from their neighborhood bully. Ten years is a very long time. And yes, they're all looking at that future, in which the United States will be a diminished power, likely to walk away from any pretense of having influence in the region. That's why Oman, an erstwhile U.S. ally, is actively cooperating with Iran to create a new control regime in the strait. That's why Turkey, Egypt, and Pakistan have created their own mini-NATO. They simply can no longer rely on the U.S. protecting shipping, commerce, and regional stability. The whole world looks at this president's idiotic chaos and is realigning with a new environment in which all of America's alliances are dead.
