I like the NE Lower just as much, in it's own way. It is really,really touristy on this side. I can deal with it, but it feels like they overwhelm the place in the summer. Today was not like that,even though it was perfect weather. So a nice change..
We came up a week ago, braving Labor day traffic. But it’s nothing like the Leelenau, Traverse City on down to Holland crowd.
By Monday, they were all mostly gone. On Tuesday, we drove 30 miles to Harrisonville on Huron. Stark beauty with hardly a soul anywhere, and on the lake- no boats in sight.
We love it up here all year, but Labor Day till Memorial Day is our favorite.
