The Chinese lay claim to anything in the nine dash line and don't recognize anyone's claim there. According to them they own the South China Sea. We have Vietnam as an ally against China.

If anything the Chinese were very happy with Trump because he withdrew the US from the TPP, Trans Pacific Partnership, and they jumped in after that void to make deals with some of the Asian Nations.
