The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

Who ya gonna believe- Natalie Harpoon or the ship tracking service that counts the ships day in/day out?

"This Monday in the Strait of Hormuz was either a great or terrible day for the global economy, depending on whom you ask.

Ship-tracking service Kpler reported that "traffic declined sharply," with just five ships crossing on Monday, the same day the US and Iran exchanged fire for the first time in a month. The data platform documented a mix of official ships as well as shadow vessels using concealment tactics.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright says over 17 million barrels of oil passed through the waterway on Monday. Wright called it a record since the beginning of the conflict. Wright's figures are rooted in claims from the Trump administration that dozens of ships are being assisted by the US Navy each night, undetected by commercial shipping trackers.

Kpler and others use satellite imagery and other tools to gauge traffic in the waterway that is about 21 miles wide at its narrowest point"

This guy is close: "Might as well just rename it Schrödinger's Strait..." Mason Hamilton, vice president of economics and research at the American Petroleum Institute

All I know is a BBL >$95-. A gallon of gas at the corner is $5.85
