"Berkshire now is trading at nearly 1.5 times our estimate of the company’s Dec. 31, 2023, book value of $390,000 per A share. That price/book ratio is in line with the ratio in recent years. The stock is trading for about 21 times projected 2024 earnings.
Book value ended the third quarter at $363,000 per A share. The book value has been lifted since then by Apple’s advance. The stock gained about 12% in the fourth quarter to $192 and is higher still in 2024. Apple shares are up 0.4% Wednesday at $196, nearing the December peak of almost $200."
