The Fed has brought inflation back down to normal levels without causing a recession. You can get a gallon of gas for $3 or less in many states, which is 38% cheaper than the average price in June 2022.

"Core PCE, the Fed's preferred measure of inflation, rose at an annual rate of 2.9% in December, easing from 3.2% in November and less than the 3.0% consensus.

The data also illustrated the continued resilience of consumer spending.

Personal Income: +0.3% M/M vs. +0.3% consensus and +0.4%, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Personal Spending: +0.7% M/M vs. +0.4% expected and +0.4% prior (revised from +0.2%)."
