People who voluntarily took on debt to pay for college want free money from the government (i.e. me, the taxpayer) and are getting it.
Bankers who gambled with clients' funds and got million dollar bonuses already got their free money in the GFC. And have and will, again and again, before, and after (like the LTCM crisis so long ago, and recently JPM buying failed First Republic bank but with FDIC backstop).
It's ironic that Democrats crib about people keeping their own money - oooh, look at Trump lowering taxes, but understandable, because they can't spend it on giveaways. I am glad Newsom showed some spine for once.
(Republicans did it too, but reluctantly. In the GFC, at first they voted against the bailout before Bush realized that this sucker could go down.)
