The errors have not been in intelligence but in the consequent decisions.Slanted/distorted/fake intelligence would also include how quick, cheap, and easy, it would be to knock over the Iranian regime. I remember the same narrative wrt Iraq: "we will be welcomed as liberators. It won't cost us anything, because the cost of the war will be recovered from Iraqi oil revenues".
Legislation is working it's way through Congress that will fully integrate US and Israeli intelligence operations. Then "Bibi" and Mossad don't need to be in the Situation Room, because the Israeli world view will be woven into everything produced by US intelligence agencies.
Buried deep inside a 192-page intelligence authorization bill is Section 622, titled “United States-Israel Intelligence Sharing Enhancement.” It would require the president, acting through the director of national intelligence and as necessary the secretary of defense, to “expand and enhance intelligence sharing with the Government of Israel” on a list of subjects that encompasses almost every topic of intelligence interest in the Middle East.responsiblestatecraft.org - US intelligence israelNotice, the quirk is that US intelligence agencies would be *required* to share everything with Israel. Something could only be held back from Israel by explicit Presidential intervention, on a case by case basis. Translation: the US intelligence apparatus works for Israel. As the Israelis will see everything from the US intelligence apparatus, they will certainly tell the US any time they see something they don't agree with, and the US assessment will be "corrected" to align with Israel's assessment. This bill was reported out of committee, and is on the calendar for consideration by the full Senate.
We are used to being sold out to the insurance industry, the oil industry, the pharma industry. We are also being sold out to a tiny country on the other side of the world.
