Question: If, as republicans keep claiming here, more and more New Yorkers are fleeing the city every single day, then why did the city's vacancy rate drop to a mere 1.4 percent – the lowest this measurement has been since the 1968 New York City Housing and Vacancy Survey? If individuals and businesses are rushing for the exits, why is New York City’s supply of available housing unable to keep up with the demand to live there?
