"I don't think it's in Warren's best interest to continue doing public interviews."
I wanted to post something essentially saying what you said. Not necessarily that he shouldn't do public interviews anymore but rather that he certainly didn't do Greg any favours with this one. For starters, it doesn't really send a good message that he initiated the Goog position even if "Greg's the final decision maker". It just comes across like like the training wheels aren't off and gives a mixed message to the market. Now, most of us Berkshire owners don't really care about market perception, but still, he really shouldn't have commented to the extent that he did. I also didn't really get his point about excusing away the amount of cap ex Google's currently spending. He basically just said "that's the current game they're playing". Ok but that's a game we traditionally shied away from (with the exception of his forays into airlines). Full disclosure- I'm a Google shareholder and totally fine with it as a long term position but I'm not really ok with what's going on with the circular financing right now with hyperscalers. I would argue that valuation is a bit stretched right now and that perhaps when the music stops on the circular financing it would be a better time to get in. But of course, it's also fair to point out his track record's a bit better thAn mine :-)
There also seems to be some confusion about "initiating" the position and "adding". The way I took it from that interview Warren did both.
