The big difference is that every baseball game starts anew. Politics doesn’t, there is this thing call “image momentum”. Basically it’s why people are still buying Cadillacs even though they’ve sucked for a decade. With Joe it’s going the other way, it was already low by any standard, and he sank it last night. You know that old saying “You only get one chance to make a first impression”? Joe was already on the downhill and made it worse. It’s a hole so deep he’ll never climb out. There isn’t time or money enough (and the money is going to stop flowing, just watch.)
