I read a book about America's cultures - all 11. Some are small, like Southern Florida which was viewed as being part of the Caribbean, and the SouthWest as part of Mexico Norte. While the MidWest, West up to the Left Coast, were the largest Geographically. But several of the main cultures have a distrust of back east that goes back to when they were settled - before they were the US. They have that in common. It's like Shia vs Sunni. - Lapsody

That's an interesting concept. There is some validity to the coastal elites vs flyover country although there are liberal enclaves in so called flyover country. I never though of there being a different culture based on geography, it seems more like rural vs urban lifestyle and values to me.
