The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

This board hates pro-lifers with a fiery passion.

No, we've just examined it. 100 years ago priests actually recommended abortions, over time there was a switch which was due to anti abortion resonating and filling the coffers. The coffers rule. And, true to what we find about MAGAs, if you confront them about this they deny it, and the effect is they become even more adamant anti abortionists. The Catholic Church was anti abortion all along. When I was in Texas I'd see bumper stickers saying that in case of rapture this pick up may be unmanned. It comes across as a doomsday cult. They morphed, picked up King Cyrus as being helpful in the past and - Lo and Behold! - Trump became King Cyrus returned, to lead the Israelis to rebuild the Temple and bring about the rapture, when Jesus returns to earth and they fly up in the sky and the rest of us are tortured and go to hell.

And they vote as a block, just like Iglesia ni Cristo in the Philippines, so you need to remain anti abortion in order to get that block of votes. Same in the USA. Now we have this bad quilt pattern of states not allowing abortion so you have to travel halfway across the US to get one. And then they make laws that if you're pregnant and travel to get an abortion you have committed murder and are due prison time, and anyone who helped you gets prison time. And we can't return to sanity on the subject, but I do ask them what happened to all the priests that recommended abortions when they met God in heaven? Are they all in hell, or did they get a pass?

In the meantime can we get federal property OK for abortions, rent it to an abortion clinic on federal land, and make it so that no one goes to jail, and - women are allowed to have better lives? Do we have to be nuts about this?
