The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

It’s the first known call for additional intelligence personnel for the Iran war by the administration

Oh it’s so much worse than that. Now we’re asking Ukraine how to fight against drones.

Yes, as of March 2026, the United States and various Middle Eastern partners are actively seeking Ukraine's expertise to counter Iranian-designed Shahed drones. Following years of fighting Russian drone attacks, Ukraine has developed highly effective, low-cost "interceptor drones" and tactics that the U.S. and its allies now urgently need.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that the US and other nations have reached out to Ukraine for assistance in defending against Iranian drones, noting that "the Middle East is calling us". Ukraine has specialized in defeating Shahed-style drones, which are being used in the Middle East. Ukraine has pioneered inexpensive "drone-killing" equipment costing as little as $1000, which is being recognized as a necessary part of modern cost effective defense.

Think about this. AFTER we started dumping bombs on Iran, a country known for have vast stockpiles of cheap drones imported from Russia and/or home produced from Chinese parts, NOW we say “Gee, maybe we should learn about this drone stuff.”

At this point I would like to say “It can’t get any stupider than this”, but I am resigned to thinking and knowing that it will.
